Different Effects Of Psychological Stress (cont.)
Psychological stress can affect the individual and in turn the society in a number of ways:
Cognitive (concerning the mind) Effects: are inability to make decisions and concentrate, frequent forgetfulness, hypersensitivity to criticism and mental blocks.
Behavioural Effects: are accident proneness, drug taking, emotional outbursts, excessive eating or loss of appetite, excessive drinking and smoking, excitability, impulsive behaviour, impaired speech, nervous laughter, restlessness and trembling.
Apart from these effects numerous diseases caused by stress greatly magnifies, in the long run, the consequences of the stress. Meditation helps us manage stress and as a result prevents its various effects from having an influence on us.
