| The Mental Kaleidoscope A kaleidoscope creates beautiful patterns from chaotic bits and pieces, which are scattered everywhere. When the kaleidoscope is turned, disorder becomes order, chaos becomes beauty and symmetry. The Drama of Life is constantly turning and we are part of its cyclic movement; sometimes this cyclic movement of life is supportive, comprehensible (understandable) and enjoyable and, at other times, it is tense, fearful, stressful and incomprehensible (not understandable). There is confusion and fear because we do not understand what is happening, why it is happening and how it will get better. Things not only appear chaotic but also hopeless. If the intellect is able to go beyond the questions of 'Why?', 'What?' and 'How?' and just be still, without judgements, or pressure, for some period of time, then things do work out. To do this requires faith. The power of faith means that we know that somehow and somewhere right solutions and answers will come in their own time. (To be continued tomorrow…) |

ReplyDeleteI HAVE SOME WHAT DIFFERENT NOTION. IT SHOULD READ: :”The faith means (NOT POWER OF FAITH) that we know that somehow and somewhere right solutions and answers will come in their own time’.
(1)TAKE AN EXAMPLE HOW POWER OF FAITH IS EXHIBITED.
CONSIDER 100 TERMINALLY ILL PATIENTS NOT EXPECTED TO LIVE BEYOND A WEEK. BUT AFTER TAKING HOLY WATER AND NO OTHER TREATMENT ALL (OR MOST)SURVIVE FOR MONTH – OR MORE, WHILE THOSE NOT TAKING ANY TREATMENT / HOLY WATER SUCUMB IN A WEEK. THIS SHOWS POWER OF FAITH IN HOLY WATER.
(2) WHEN FACED WITH A PROBLEM, ONE USES INTELLECT, TAKES ADVICE ETC. AND POSSIBLY SOLVES THE PROBLEM. IF NOT, THEN ONE SAYS THAT BEYOND THIS I CANNOT DO ANY THING NEW AND SO LEAVE THINGS TO FATE. HERE QUESTION OF FAITH DOES NOT ARISE AT ALL.IT IS VERY NORMAL PROCESS.
(3)I SUPPOSE ‘FAITH’ SHOULD CONNOTE SOME BELIEF /PRACTICE THAT IS NOT LOGICALLY EXPLICABLE OR ONE THAT IS PURSUED WITHOUT LIMIT IN SPITE OF FAILURE. . THUS I SAY:’HARD WORK IS SURE WAY TO SUCCEED’. THIS IS NORMAL BUT BECOMES FAITH IF I KEEP ON APPEARING FOR EXAM JUST WORKING HARD WITHOUT THINKING OF ANY REASON FOR FAILURE.
(4)IN PRACTICE SUCH A FAITH TREATMENT (BY HOLY WATER AS AN EXAMPLE) IS NOT ADVISABLE. ONE SHOULD USE POWER OF FAITH IN CONJUNCTION WITH STANDARD TREATMENT TO IMPROVE CHANCES OF CURE. WITHOUT FAITH IN GOD, MEDICINE BUT WITH MEDICATION ONE CAN GET CURED (AS IN CASE ANIMALS, CHILDREN) BUT WITH JUST FAITH AND NO MEDICATION CHANCES ARE SLIM. ADHERENT OF FAITH WILL SAY ‘THERE WAS NO FULL FAITH AND SO THE FAILURE’.BUT THE POOR CHAP WILL KNOW ABOUT HIS LACK OF FAITH JUST BEFORE DEATH.
AND THOSE WHO CLAIM TO HAVE FULL FAITH IN FAITH WILL THEMSELVES TAKE MEDICATION WHEN SERIOUSLY ILL.
