Soul Sustenance

Stress Management (cont.)

There are some false beliefs about stress that we have acquired:
"You have to be overworking and constantly under pressure to experience stress"

Truth: If you believe that your happiness is based on what you do and that people get fired for missing a deadline, or that authority figures in your life have a right to punish you and cause you pain for non completion of assigned work, then stress will be your companion wherever you go, whatever you do, for the rest of your life. But if you believe in yourself, if you believe you can control your emotions, if you believe that no one can hurt you without your permission, if you believe that missing a deadline is not the end of the world or your job, if you believe that some deadlines will be missed in life and that does not reduce your value as a person, then you will always be able to relax, no matter where you are or how tight the deadline. In fact, then you will be much less likely to miss the deadline than the person who is a habitual worrier.

Are you ready to challenge your beliefs? It's not other people, the system or the hand life seems to deal you that keep you locked in stressful patterns of thought and behaviour. It's your beliefs. Change your beliefs and you change everything.
